Release and delivery: This guide describes LocalPro 2026.10.16.001. Marketplace acceptance, purchase verification, support entitlement and update delivery are separate. The Built Not Begged direct package retains Companion and five optional Free plugins. Marketplace editions may contain fewer optional add-ons; use the manifest included with that download. Included add-ons retain their recorded versions rather than automatically matching newer standalone releases. Direct checkout is being prepared. This site currently uses private licensing requests; a request is not a paid order or an issued license.

1. Install in staging first

Use WordPress 7.1.3 or later and PHP 8.3 or later. The receipt records actually tested combinations; a minimum version does not certify every newer environment. Back up existing source, database, menus and settings.

  1. Unzip the buyer download and open installable.
  2. Open Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme. Install and activate the localpro theme ZIP.
  3. Install optional plugins through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin or the optional-plugin setup. The native designs require neither a paid builder nor a license key.
  4. Open Appearance → Customize to choose industry, purpose, identity, content, media, markets and contact information.
  5. Review the homepage, navigation, destinations and forms on desktop/mobile before publication.

Companion provides optional sample setup and a private inquiry inbox. OG Images by MatthewxMurphy.com, Sitemap Free, Mobile Navigation, Feedback Desk and Site Compliance Desk are optional Free components. Their independent versions remain listed in the manifest; no paid plans or external services are activated by a bundle.

2. Choose the business purpose

Purpose is independent of industry. Selecting a broader market does not change a design’s palette or composition.

Local business

Use: Your business provides its own services locally.

Owner setup: Real identity, services, contact details and areas served.

Local and broader markets

Use: Your business serves additional regions or remote customers.

Owner setup: Actual markets, availability and which services can be delivered remotely.

Lead-generation publisher

Use: The site collects inquiries and connects people with independent businesses.

Owner setup: Identify the publisher's role, review inquiries and explain any information sharing.

Enter service regions one per line under Business purpose and markets. This changes labels and captures the requested region. It does not create offices, regional landing pages, worldwide service coverage or automatic dispatch.

The publisher purpose supports audience-focused content sites that collect inquiries for businesses. Add your own audience, content and branding. The form can capture a customer looking for help or a business offering services; gender and a particular book are not hard-coded.

3. Choose an industry composition

Industry Composition
Law firm Photo hero, six compact practice cards, combined team/information region.
Roofing Four services, business region and recent projects.
HVAC Hero, trust strip, four services and compact benefits.
Medical / Podiatry Separate clinical/care profiles, practice information and contact.
Tax & accounting Portrait-led hero, six icon services, notice strip and information columns.
Restaurant Food hero, five menu highlights, paired events/catering panels.
Real estate Search/inquiry composition, five property positions, team/areas.
Auto repair Mechanic hero, trust strip, four services and workshop information.
Beauty salon Four photographic services, stylist strip and salon information.
Construction Four services, business region and projects/areas.
Solar Four services, compact benefits and service regions.
Landscaping Outdoor hero, service strip, business region and featured projects.

Clinical designs and tax mobile include illustrative adaptations. Review the selected composition and replace example images with material appropriate for your business.

4. Make it yours

Use WordPress Site Identity for your business name/logo. Illustrative branding is a demo-only option with a visible notice. Logos stay unboxed. Edit the selected industry’s hero, services, introduction, actual team, projects and markets in its native controls.

Choose your images from the Media Library. Settings remain scoped to each industry when you switch designs. Bundled photographs are generated illustrative replacement artwork, not original separate concept assets, real staff or completed customer work. Replace examples with verified business content. Local font files carry their original OFL notices.

Service/project rows use title | description | destination URL; team rows use name | role | profile URL; metrics use value | label. Add only real qualifications, prices, authorized quotations and substantiated results. Empty reviews/metrics use neutral information or contact compositions.

Assign native menus through Appearance → Menus. Owner menus take precedence over industry navigation. Mobile navigation supports nested choices, Back, focus and Escape. Search, reservations, booking, videos and portals require configured destinations or services. Unconfigured controls lead to an inquiry or explain their setup; no fake results, appointments or transactions are returned. A mobile mockup does not supply a native app.

The footer carries Matthew X Murphy’s developer credit and both author/product links. Preserve applicable source licenses and upstream notices when adapting the product.

5. Configure the private inbox

  1. Activate LocalPro Companion.
  2. Publish your privacy policy and confirm contact details.
  3. Open Tools → LocalPro Inquiries, save the privacy URL and deliberately enable intake.
  4. Submit a synthetic inquiry, check the private administrator inbox and verify public readers cannot access it.
  5. Review communication consent and the separate optional sharing consent in publisher mode before acting.

The shortcode [localpro_lead_form] can be placed on an editable contact page. Name, email, requested service, requested region, message and communication consent are required; phone is optional. Fresh installations keep intake disabled.

Inquiries remain on your WordPress site for owner review. No email, automatic matching, sale, CRM export or external dispatch occurs. Status audit records administrator, previous/new state and time. Marking Contacted records an owner’s action; it does not send a message or prove a sale. Owners manage retention and native privacy export/erase.

Exclude enabled inquiry pages from full-page and CDN caching. The plugin sends no-store hints, but a cache serving an older page before WordPress runs can reuse an expired form. Reload after policy or purpose changes. Verify the actual homepage and contact-page cache rules with your host.

6. Optional sample setup and undo

Companion can create five draft pages and a menu. Choose industry and purpose, then explicitly choose whether to apply settings or assign the homepage/menu. Activation does not perform an import.

The renderer supplies the native composition and bundled media; imported pages are editable blocks. Replace sample instructions before publication. Setup records ownership/prior values, repeated imports recover their own records, and undo changes only unchanged owned records/settings. Buyer edits are retained and reported. Keep a real backup in addition to this scoped undo.

7. Updates and support

Future releases use YYYY.M.DD.XXX, dated in America/Chicago. Historical archives remain intact and unchanged plugins retain independent versions. Test upgrades in staging, particularly with child themes/custom CSS.

Report exact theme/Companion versions, industry, purpose, WordPress/PHP, active plugins, reproduction steps and sanitized screenshots through LocalPro support. Exclude leads, credentials and database exports. Request a private exchange for security reports.

Source is GPL-2.0-or-later with separate font/upstream notices. Purchase verification, support entitlement, update delivery and marketplace approval are separate; LocalPro does not create a marketplace licensing service.
